Hello, Peter --Thank you for this, very helpful. I am at North Memorial now. Do you have any advice for vaccination of a group of doctors? Will we need to plan on possibly missing a day or two of work, should side effects occur? (As they side effects may include symptoms that would otherwise be suspicious for the infection.)

Hi, Brian. I would recommend connecting with Leslie Baken or employee health and ask about how the vaccine will be distributed. I have heard that the first dose is not so bad, but the second dose really can be a doozy with respect to reaction.

Thank you, Peter. I just talked with Leslie. Combined with her advice, this will help us to plan staffing for the ICU.

If you have recovered from COVID you can go ahead and get the second dose if you need no longer be in precautions (10 days after symptom onset, resolution of symptoms, and no fever).

I have heard from several people that received the dose given after recovering from COVID, that they had very strong side effects. Nothing life threatening, but more intense immune response because of recent infection.

If you have had documented COVID, you can also wait 90 days before receiving the vaccine.

Good luck!
